Seeking Nominations for 2019 Elections

It’s that time of the year again! We’re looking for nominations for anyone who would like to fill any of our current officer positions:

  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Secretary

If you would like to nominate yourself or nominate another person, please either message us via our Facebook page or by email at contact@kcatheists.org with the name and, if applicable, contact information of the other person you are nominating.

Come October, we’ll be using BallotBin to send out notifications to all dues-paying members to participate in this year’s elections. See you then!

2017: A Year in Review

This was a highly productive and successful year for KCAC. Here are some of the highlights of which our volunteers and leadership are most proud:

  • Joshua Stewart, Director of Activism, successfully debated presuppositionalist Joshua Sommers, who took the position that without Christianity, humans cannot arrive at any level of consequential knowledge.
  • The success of our first Care Kit event to assemble supplies for the homeless in 2017 led to the Winter Care Kits event that occurred earlier this month.
  • Ask An Atheist on St. Patrick’s Day introduced us to some new friends.
  • We put on costumes and games, and handed out candy to residents of the Niles Home in Kansas City on Halloween.
  • Throughout the year, KCAC representatives attended nearly every available date to serve the homeless and working poor with The Micah Ministry.

Atheists Assemble Winter Care Kits

With the help of dozens of people and contributions purchased using your donations to KCAC and contributions brought by people themselves, we assembled and gave for distribution over 200 care kits containing hand warmers, socks, water, matches, candles, and so many other things that people need on a daily basis but either may not be able to afford or may not qualify for. Thanks to everyone who participated in and supported this event – you’re making a difference!

KC Atheists Bring Halloween to Kids at Niles Home

We were able to get together some costumed friends to hand out candy and play a variety of prize games with the kids at Niles Home, bringing to them the experience of trick-or-treating for sweets, temporary tattoos, glow sticks, and more!

Activism Director Invited to Christian High School

Our director of activism, Joshua Stewart, was recently invited to speak about his journey from devout belief to non-belief in a class of students at Northland Christian High School. Further appearances are in the work, but everyone had fun with the exchange of experiences and perspectives!
